The Jharkhand High Court Granted Six Week Provisional Bail to Lalu Prasad Yadav

PATNA: Jailed RJD chief and former Bihar chief minister Lalu Prasad Yadav was on Friday granted a six-week provisional bail by Jharkhand High Court for undergoing medical treatment at specialised institutes.Yadav is currently on a three-day parole to attend the wedding of his elder son Tej Pratap Yadav, which will be held in Patna on Saturday. He was sent to a jail in Ranchi in December after a court found him guilty in several fodder scam cases. Lalu Prasad was on Thursday greeted at the Patna airport like a hero, with hundreds of party leaders, workers and upbeat supporters holding his colourful pictures in hand and raising slogans in his praise. While the RJD chief had sought three months bail to seek better treatment for the host of health complications he is facing. But Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh of Jharkhand High Court granted bail for a month and half. Senior lawyer and Congress leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi argued on behalf of Yadav at the high court.
